Coordinator of Children & Youth
Purpose: LBUMC is seeking a Christian Educator to nurture and grow our children and youth ministries.
Compensation: This position will be a part-time position (12 hours per week). Compensation is $30 per hour.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
❖ Coordinate Sunday School Programming (about 6 hours per week)
➢ Be a regular presence in classrooms before and after Sunday School to connect with volunteer teachers and parents, and supervise flow.
➢ Teach Sunday School monthly to connect with kids and teachers.
➢ On-going evaluation of curriculum and programming needs.
➢ Recruit, train, and coordinate teachers and volunteers with involvement of pastor and ministry team.
➢ Monitor supplies needed for each class and inform the office of needed supplies.
➢ Collaborate with the Trustees to ensure that the classrooms are safe and inviting.
❖ Supervise Nursery Care (½ hour per week)
➢ Supervise nursery staff weekly and sign off on hours.
➢ If there is a vacancy in the nursery position, recruit, hire, and train new staff.
❖ Manage Administration Tasks (about 2 hours per week)
➢ Organize volunteers for fellowship opportunities for children, families and youth.
➢ Communicate regularly with families to inform them of church happenings. ➢ Attend regular church staff meetings and meet bi-weekly with Pastor.
➢ Calendar events with LBUMC Office for publication.
➢ Align programming with vision for LBUMC Christian Education.
➢ Attend Leadership Board meetings, as needed.
➢ Manage Family Ministries budget.
➢ Meet regularly with the Family Ministry and Sunday School teams to coordinate and adapt curriculum as needed.
❖ Plan and coordinate family ministries events such as (1½ hours per week):
➢ Quarterly service events.
➢ Advent and Lenten events.
➢ Vacation Bible School.
➢ Other family events.
❖ Develop and Implement Youth Ministry (about 2 hours per week)
➢ Implement relevant youth programming (outings, lunches, beach or movie events).
➢ Cultivate volunteers to coordinate youth events or service opportunities.
