Soprano Section Leader

​

The goal of the section leader is to assist the Choir Director and other worship staff in providing high quality music and meaningful worship. 

​

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Attend all scheduled rehearsals and performances as determined by the Choir Director. Attendance is required for all special services, including Christmas Eve, Ash Wednesday, Good Friday, and Easter. A full calendar of dates will be provided in advance.

  • Organize and lead monthly sectional rehearsals. The Choir Director will provide all necessary materials prior to each sectional.

  • Lead vocal warm-ups for the choir before Wednesday evening rehearsals and Sunday morning services.

  • Participate in featured music opportunities, including small ensembles, duets, and solos, as part of worship and special services.

  • Demonstrate initiative and leadership in the absence of the Choir Director.

Qualifications:

  • Experience singing choral music with excellent musicianship (proficient sight-reading skills, good sense of pitch and rhythm, ability to adapt vocal qualities to fit the demands of various styles and genres).

  • Ability to sing as a large ensemble member, small ensemble member, or a soloist.

  • Ability to work cooperatively with church attendees: pastoral, professional, and volunteers.

  • Must be respectful of United Methodist Church practices.

  • Piano skills (highly desirable, but not required).

Start Location: 21632 Wesley Drive, Laguna Beach, CA. 

Start Day: Wednesday, September 2, 2026

Pay: $40/hour

Schedule: The choral season runs from late August until the end of June. Rehearsals typically occur on Wednesday nights at 7:00 PM and Sunday mornings at 8:45 AM. Changes may occur for special services. A calendar with all rehearsals and performances will be provided upon hire.
